I guess one thing that came up is that what some of us are doing is getting involved in more things that involve many different kinds of people for diversity and then just be ourselves. I canvased our whole neighborhood for this civil rights thing and I met every neighbor and told them where I lived, and "I'm the one with all of the flowers. I live with my partner of 25 years." Some were great. Some really didn't want to vote for me and that was okay, but they all know me now and we've all had a one-on-one conversation.
